Looking for a tiny, magical project? This Micro Crochet Magic Mushroom is the perfect accessory! Whether you want to make a unique keychain, a pair of whimsical earrings, or a tiny pendant for your bag, this intermediate-level Free Micro Crochet Mushroom Pattern will guide you through creating a detailed 1-inch (2.5cm) fly agaric.

Since this is a micro crochet project, we are working with a 1mm hook, which gives it that delicate, intricate look.

Materials You Will Need:

  • Yarn: I use a 100% cotton yarn from my local store. But you can use any Size 10 crochet thread or Size 8 Pearl Cotton.
  • Hook: I used a 1mm hook. I highly recommend Clover Amour Hooks for the best experience.
  • Tools & Supplies:
    • Fiberfill, scissors, and a tapestry needle.
    • Optional: Stitch markers, keychain clasp, jump ring, or earring hook.
    • Find all these essentials here: Crochet Supplies & Accessories.

Crochet Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • MR – Magic Ring (Check out my video tutorial if you need a refresher!)
  • CH – Chain
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • INC – Increase
  • DEC – Decrease
  • BLO / FLO – Back Loop Only / Front Loop Only
  • SL ST – Slip Stitch
  • French Knot – Embroidery stitch for the dots on the cap.

Why Micro Crochet?

Working with a 1mm hook might feel a bit tricky at first if you are used to plush yarn, but the result is incredibly rewarding. This little mushroom measures only about 1 inch (2.5cm), making it a true miniature masterpiece.

Pro Tip: Use a magnifying lamp if you have one, and make sure you have good lighting!
