Welcome to one of my favorite Halloween amigurumi projects! If you are looking for a quick and adorable spooky project, this free crochet ghost pattern is just what you need. Featuring a sweet ruffled bottom and a cute purple witch’s hat with a bright yellow buckle, this little ghost is guaranteed to add a festive touch to your autumn decor.

Size & Difficulty
This free crochet ghost pattern is rated at a beginner difficulty level, making it a quick and enjoyable project even if you are relatively new to making amigurumi. When finished using the recommended yarn and hook, the ghost alone measures approximately 2.2 x 2.6 inches (5.5 x 6.5 cm), while the complete project with the witch hat stands at roughly 4 x 2.6 inches (10 x 6.5 cm). Best of all, it requires only a tiny amount of yarn, making it the perfect stash buster project to clear out your leftover yarn scraps!
Materials list:
- Yarn: I use a 100% cotton yarn from my local store. The best match and my top recommendation for this pattern is Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK.
- Hook: I used a 2mm hook. I highly recommend Clover Amour Hooks for the best experience.
- Tools & Supplies:
- Fiberfill, 6mm safety eyes, scissors, and a tapestry needle.
- Optional: Stitch markers.

Fasten off.
Top part
With white yarn
Round 1: mr, 6 sc [6]
Round 2: 6 x inc [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 [24]
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 [30]
Rounds 6–13: 30 sc [30] (8 rounds)
Place safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, 5 sc apart. Or embroider them.

Stuff.
Note: In the next round, we will join the top and bottom parts of the ghost’s body by crocheting through both layers at the same time. Before finishing the round, add more stuffing if needed.

Arms (make 2)
With white yarn

Close with 3 sc.
Sew the arms on round 12, on the sides of the body.
Using black yarn, embroider the mouth on round 12.
Witch’s Hat
With purple yarn
Round 1: mr, 4 sc [4]

Rounds 3–4: 6 sc [6]
Round 5: (sc, inc) x 3 [9]
